Audi produces some pretty phenomenal cars, from the S1 to the SQ8 ABT. One of their most popular performance cars is the RS3 sport back and the saloon. The Audi RS3 Saloon was particularly special, it has the styling and elegance of a sporty saloon but the power of the bigger boys on the block.
This powerhouse fun machine is something to marvel at and something most lads want on their drive and in this post we will go over a few of the reasons why this car is so desirable and what makes it worth owning an RS3 in today’s world.

The Audi RS3 is quite honestly a beautiful machine, it’s smooth lines and longer body from the sport back give it a classier edge over previous models and the majority of its competitors. The previous models of the RS3 came in the sporty hot hatch brackets, which were some of the first to break over 300bhp.
These previous models were rounded, smooth and overly familiar with other models on the market. Although they had an edge, they were still quite a boyish, playful looking car that just asked to be driven. It’s lines were sharp, the lights were still kind of boxy and it had a big wide grill on the front.
The newer models came with a more aggressive look, more angular lines, boxier grills and sharper around the edges. This made it sportier, more dominant on the road, stating “I’m a damn RS3, respect me”. Then they released the Saloon.
Keeping under the same aggressive looks on the front end, then smoothing out the back gives it the business look, a sort of grown up version of a boyish toy. This older brother look to the sport back looks sensible and almost sleeper like, if the exhausts didn’t give it away.
This RS3 is a sleek and sexy saloon, but it’s not all about the outside, there’s also an inside.

Something Audi do extremely well is extract loads of power out of their performance models, some examples include the RS4 / RS5 / Audi TT RS / R8. Its not hard to see that Audi produces some brilliant performance cars, but they also do it with a prestigious, well-built quality.
Unlike other models the RS3 uses a 5 cylinder 2.5 turbo engine, that produces a staggering 400bhp and with a 0-60 of 4.1 seconds, it’s a force to be reckoned with. There aren’t many cars of this size or even bigger that produce these kinds of numbers, making it one of the fastest in its class, alongside the Mercedes A45 AMG.
To put the Audi’s Saloon into perspective, BMW’s fastest production road car is the BMW M5 competition, which pulls a 0-62 in 3.1 seconds. For a massive fraction of the price, a 5 cylinder roar and a huge fan base, the RS3 would be our car of choice.
There’s no doubt the Audi RS3 Saloon is one of the top Saloon cars on the market for performance and the Sport back dominates the hot hatch world, making the RS3 one of Audi’s best cars.
With most performance models of car, you expect them to be able to handle as well as they power through the rev range and the RS3 is no stranger to the corners as well as the straights. From standard the RS range come with Quattro 4WD, allowing the cars to lay down it’s 400bhp on every angle of the car.
It grips, it feels sturdy and the suspension is the perfect amount of firm, making this car a great all-rounder and plenty of fun on the UK’s brilliant B roads.
With its torquey engine and power to all the wheels, gripping and holding on to the road with ease the RS3, it’s no surprise it’s so sought after and talked about at the local car meets. The steering is responsive, fast and agile, although it still only weighs 1535kg, so it’s not surprising it handles like a boss.
A question you’ve probably been asking yourself is “how much is one of those?”. Well from new you’re probably looking at a price starting from £47,310, which isn’t in everyone’s back pocket I agree. You could go down the used route of about £35,000, but why would you want to do that?
What’s if we told you, you could win an RS3 for the cost of a £2.30 ticket? Imagine that! A £47,310 performance Audi that goes to 62 in 4.1 seconds, for the price of a Greggs steak bake?
