Is there or is there not something classy about air suspension? Doesn’t it just scream top end parts and boys toys? All that pssshhhh and air out, just says money money money. 1. It Ain’t Cheap
It isn’t a secret, it’s probably one of the most expensive mods you can expect to get for your car. Unless you’re getting gold coilovers. Although the price tag is high, we 100% believe this modification unlike others are worth every penny you can spend.
Unlike other mods, the more you spend the better the quality and the more features you can get out of your airlift. Never the less, even the basic packages, can be a couple of grand but it does show and looks sweet as balls.
So yeah, realistically expect to pay around £3k – £4K for an air suspension setup, it ain’t a cheap do, but it’s one that’ll put a smile on your face if you’ve got the deep pockets to show.
2. Looking After Your Bags
Maintenance is something you might have not thought about, but it’s something that needs to be taken into consideration before you start slapping away at your air suspension dealer.
Air suspension does have the drawback that it will require draining from time to time as water can get into the air lines. The good thing about high quality products like airlift, is that they reckon the process of draining the system takes about 5 minutes and can be done once a month.
Depending on where you live in the world, will determine how often you need to drain the system and seem as us guys live in the UK, we’re draining every week. Na just kidding, well about the draining part, the UK is normally 2 foot underwater though.
3. Dreaded Winter Driving
Oh no you have air suspension and winter is coming!! Quick Amazon some coilovers so we can avoid the cold!! If you’ve been draining your system regular, you shouldn’t have any issues. This is because the water in the pipe lines freeze up quicker than my toes in Blackpool sea.
But other than that, air suspension has been enjoyed the world around, including some countries that are colder than our own! And those countries recommend getting some “sideways power action”.
So even though it can get pretty chilly, I would say it’s not enough to cause lasting damage to your bag setup and anything to do with your pride and joy.
4. Effects On Performance
Everyone cares about their performance don’t they. So why shouldn’t you worry about it when you consider getting air suspension? Well seen as it’s “Airlift performance”, it is indeed a performance modification so you aren’t going to lose any form of performance, you may even gain some.
With adjustable damping settings on airlift, you can adjust the ride to however you like, whether you’re hitting the track or you just want a nice comfortable ride on your way to work but want to be lowered.
The ability to change all the settings to how you drive is one of the best benefits of air suspension, giving you the ability to control your own performance setup at the touch of a button.
5. They Look Too Damn Good
This is something that can’t be helped, sorry to say, but if you put air suspension on your car, you will look too cool, sorry bud. Your probably going to get too much street cred and you’ll have people asking questions and you’ll just be the talk of the town.
It comes with the territory of being a bagged car owner, there is no solution, your just going to have to suck up being told your car looks awesome all day long.
It’s a tough job but someone’s gotta do it.
